The Hive isn't your typical English academy. We don’t believe in crowded classrooms or "one-size-fits-all" teaching.
We believe in Elevating Standards. That’s why every session at The Hive is limited to a maximum of 8 students. Why? Because you can’t master a language if you’re just a face in a crowd. You need to speak, collaborate, and be heard.
Whether you are building The Foundation (A2) or reaching for Absolute Mastery (C1), our boutique group sessions provide the perfect environment to grow.Moving from general English into the specialised world of industry-specific language is like upgrading from a standard toolkit to a set of precision instruments. Whether you’re closing a deal or managing a guest's experience, the vocabulary and tone change significantly.Studying English in Lanzarote offers a unique "living laboratory" for language learners. Because the island's economy is so heavily driven by international tourism and unique agricultural exports, your classroom extends far beyond the four walls of a school and directly into the bustling ports, hotels, and volcanic vineyards.SO WHAT NEXT?Step 1: Your Specialist DiagnosticTo ensure you are placed in the correct Hive tier and maximize your progress, we use our short, 50 minute EF Standard English Test (EF SET). This is a globally recognised, adaptive diagnostic that accurately measures your Reading and Listening skills against the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).Environment: Please complete the test in a quiet environment using headphones for the listening section. Do not use a dictionary or outside help—the goal is to find your real starting point!Completion: Once you finish, you will receive a personalized English Certificate URL.Submission: Copy your certificate link and email it to us: ('Contact Us').Step 2: The Hive ConsultationOnce I receive your technical score, I will review your results and contact you to schedule a short chat. In this brief call, we will discuss:
•Your specific goals (work, travel, or academic).
•Your speaking fluency and any specialist needs.

KET (A2 Key) The Foundation 🧱This is the starting block. At the A2 level, you’ve moved past the "pointing and gesturing" phase and can handle simple, everyday communication. It proves you can understand basic written English and interact with English speakers at a slow, clear pace. It’s perfect for building the confidence needed to tackle higher stakes later on.
PET B1 (The Bridge) 🌉The B1 level is where things get practical. Known as the "threshold" level, it shows you have mastered the basics and have the language skills for real-world use. You can handle most situations while travelling, express your opinions, and understand straightforward instructions or public announcements. It’s the "I can survive and thrive in an English-speaking environment" certificate.
FCE B2 (The Gold Standard) 🪙This is arguably the most popular Cambridge exam. At B2, you are considered an "independent user." You can follow complex arguments, write detailed texts, and speak with enough fluency that you aren't constantly searching for words. Many employers and universities see the FCE as the benchmark for working or studying in an English-speaking setting.
CAE C1 (Absolute Mastery) 🥇Reaching the C1 level is a serious achievement. This exam proves you are a high achiever who can function at a professional and academic level. You can follow long, demanding discussions, pick up on subtle sarcasm or cultural nuances, and express yourself with a high degree of sophistication. If you’re looking to get into a top-tier university or a corporate role abroad, this is your goal.
Business In Use: B1/B2+ 💼To master Business English, one must transition from general fluency to strategic communication. Our programme is designed to bridge that gap, moving from fundamental professional interactions to high-stakes leadership and specialised industry discourse.

Home of the worker bee, it is a symbol of Manchester’s heritage: it represents hard work, community, and a hive of activity. At The Hive, we apply that same "busy bee" energy to our teaching.
